These event professionals offer unique and creative childcare solutions and hire services for all manner of events.

Earlier this week, we spent some lovely time with Timmy and Tammy founder, Roxy, discovering more about the Timmy and Tammy Events team and the range of childcare-focused event services they provide.

Where did the name ‘Timmy and Tammy’ come from?

Our most asked question! I wanted something fun and catchy! Timmy is the bear and Tammy is the bunny – our little character mascots are something the children can relate to and have fun with. Imaginative play is always core to our offerings and we bring our little Timmy and Tammy puppets to all our events.

What services does Timmy and Tammy offer?

  • A childcare service for events. We style and set up play spaces, plan and provide entertainment, activities, and crafts.
  • A hire service – party set ups, bell tent hire, slumber parties, movie nights…this list goes on!
  • A casual nanny service – local and experienced babysitters, overnight stays, school pickups, excursion nannies, and hotel nannies.

How long has Timmy and Tammy been operating?

We’ve been operating on the Gold Coast now for 3 years, bringing a complete new concept to adult-themed events. Our core focus was originally to offer a childcare solution at weddings. From personal experience on my own wedding day, I found this was something needed, yet there were no solutions available for me. Now we have a team of casual nannies and entertainers offering childcare services such as babysitting, school holiday workshops, craft activities, slumber parties, movie nights and so much more!

What kinds of events do you service?

Any! We work with our customers. A wedding, a conference, a 1st birthday or a 100th birthday… if there are children present, we can offer our styled set ups and relaxing spaces for the little party people, along with fun and creative activities with our awesome child carers.

What types of activities do you do with children?

We love craft, adventure, nature, sensory play and fun. We bring all these elements into any of our event planning and always make sure we cater to the interest of the children. If you tell us your child loves dinosaurs expect dinosaur sensory trays, dinosaur bones, eggs and all things dinosaur!

In your experience, what activities do children enjoy most?

The messy, the sensory, the creative, the imaginative play – always. Give a child a cardboard box and they will make a robot. We love to be creative always.

How did you get into the childcare field?

I personally began my career in childcare in Europe, as a Group Leader and Entertainer for children on holiday – planning schedules, excursions, activities, games and entertainment. My love for childcare and party planning grew from here. I have worked 10 years in the childcare and entertainment industry and hold extensive knowledge with all ages. I have met many beautiful children and families and hold many magical memories.

Who are your team members?

We have a hand-selected bunch of beautiful girls who all are passionate educators, child carers and who love to entertain.

What makes an amazing team member at Timmy and Tammy?

A creative imagination and a bubbly personality, always having a tonne of party games up their sleeve, and the ability to bring magic and great organisational skills.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

Bringing joy, getting to use my creative imagination every single day and seeing the smiles on the faces of so many little people! Childcare is my passion, and I get so much joy and energy from working with them as do all my girls! Passion creates the magic and the sparkle at every event!

Your most memorable event?

There are so many special memories from events! We get to be a part of someone’s love story, someone’s first birthday, or an anniversary. Our first same sex wedding in Brisbane is one I will always remember. Not only did we get to run with the spectacular unicorn and rainbow theme, craft and activities, but we got to witness and be a part of the most beautiful ceremony, and a unique speech sung by the groom brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the magic of special events come to life and the happiness in the children and families is what we really remember and we’re so proud to be a part of it all!

Top tips for creating a child-friendly event?

Always risk assess! Safety is number one! Essentials include toilet location, changing facilities, shade, and water. Always be organised, know how many children are attending, let parents know your expectations, who is responsible for the children, supervision, and what are you providing for the children, entertainment, and space. Always invite children – they are the most important guests at any celebration and they create the best memories!

What other services do you offer?

Other than childcare solutions for events, we also offer hire and set up options, without the need for supervised childcarers and entertainment. We take as much pride in our set ups and styling as we do in our childcare services. Our bell tents can by hired for other reasons such as slumber parties, movie nights, meditation or yoga, women’s circles, and more.  Just need a babysitter? Our casual nannies can come to you!

Any special plans/new directions for 2020?

Yes! Keep an eye on what events we will be offering this year. We have a few exciting ideas that we are setting in stone over the next couple of months.

What are your areas of operation?

Currently we travel anywhere on the Gold Coast, the Hinterland and Brisbane.

Your availability?

We love to get at least 24 hours’ notice for casual bookings and 2 weeks’ notice for events. A lot of work goes into the planning and we want to ensure we have availability. Subject to availability, we can take bookings any day of the week.
